Sesame Central (CQU)

Funded by: AgriFutures Australia

The National Sesame Program of Research, led by CQUniversity Australia (CQU) and supported by AgriFutures Australia. Sesame Central is the primary national research initiative for the development of a sustainable and profitable sesame industry in Australia.

Key activities include varietal development and evaluation, agronomy research, market development, and grower extension services.

Great North Spice (GNS)

Funded by: Cooperative Research Centre for Northern Australia (CRCNA)

A CRCNA-funded research project based at CQU that supports the development of sesame and other spice crops as viable commercial enterprises in northern Australia. GNS provides complementary research to Sesame Central with a focus on northern growing conditions, farming systems integration, and supply chain development.

QDAF Commercial Supply Chain Project

Funded by: Queensland Department of Agriculture and Fisheries (QDAF)

A QDAF-funded project delivered through ASIDA, focused on developing a commercial supply chain for Australian-grown sesame. The project is mapping the existing supply chain, developing buyer relationships, and establishing the quality and logistics infrastructure needed to support commercial-scale sesame production in Australia.
